Description

One of the few colours made using organic pigments, genuine bone black (burnt animal bones) provides the deepest black possible. We found a version of this paint on the window frames of St Paul's Chapter House, where it was used to black out the windows during German air strikes in WW2.

Blackout looks stunning on the photos of the roof trim along with Whiteley.

Don't forget to order your Raw Linseed Oil and Balsam Turpentine if you need to thin the first coat.

If you would prefer a ready mixed primer, we would recommend Primer #3

Seems to work well, time will tell. Easy to use on 400 year old oak beams, barge boards and brand new window frames. Not as glossy as synthetics but the effect on our 400 year old house is just right.

Our first use of linseed paint in an 18th century restoration - used on fascia and corbels, great colour depth and coverage, easy to apply, looking forward to seeing the long-term benefits. Excellent service too.
