Description

Use for thinning of linseed oil paint.

This cold-pressed and matured raw linseed oil from Yorkshire is used for thinning linseed oil paints. It's particularly ideal as a thinner if you're painting very dry, porous wood because it has a slower drying time.

We often get asked if you can use linseed oil on its own (raw or boiled) to protect exterior timber.  We wouldn’t recommend this as there is no protection from UV breakdown or mould growth because linseed oil is an organic product.  We have, therefore, developed a Nourish Wood Oil which gives exterior timber the protection it needs with a clear finish.  Or you can use our Exterior Linseed Oil Paint which has the protection from the colour pigments in the paint.

Available in 500ml (16.9 fl.oz.), 1L (33.8 fl.oz.) and 5L (1.32 gal.) sizes.

An amazing product, I thin my paint and store my brush in this. It smells so good too. Thank you Brouns and Co.

Like any of the products you buy from brouns & co you can be absolutely confident of the quality , you might ask what’s so special about the raw linseed oil ,well when you use it to thin down the linseed paint you’ll realise why this is absolutely beautiful it blends in beautifully without congealing or separating , this is high quality and we wouldn’t use anything else .

I haven't used linseed oil on wood since my Secondary school years - keeping my lacrosse stick in good order! A bit of a blast from the past now applying it to the garden furniture but it works brilliantly and is lovely to apply knowing that it has no nasty petrochemicals or other things in it.

Cambridge no 7 paint. Looks lovely. Slightly messy applying initial thinned coat but subsequent coats easier. Looks lovely. Soft white with a light sheen. Much more attractive than modern gloss paints and the smell is lovely.

The original shed, http://www.shanegibney.com/shanegibney/originalShed.jpg After sanding, http://www.shanegibney.com/shanegibney/sandedShed.jpg With Linseed oil paint applied, http://www.shanegibney.com/shanegibney/finishedShed.jpg I was delighted with the job and knowing that the wood will be protected for 10 to 15 years. Thanks, Shane
