Graphite – for metal (40)
Price range: £7.95 through £175.00
The original colour which was mostly used on railings, guttering and downpipes. It has a linseed varnish added to it for a completely authentic finish on metal and has a metallic sheen.
It looks and feels thinner than any of our standard colours and it is essential to keep stirring it during use. It is harder to apply on timber and therefore not something that we would normally recommend, instead why not choose one of our alternative Grey colours.
You can also use any of the colours from our Exterior Paint Range to paint metal surfaces.
When using on metal don’t forget to order your Linseed Oil Iron Oxide Primer.
Ben –
After 3 thin coats, this transforms ironwork with its beautiful metallic finish. Yes, it needs to be applied thinly, and stirred regularly, but it’s much easier to get a good consistent finish than with modern Hammerite. I’ve used it indoors for shelf brackets: the smell is minimal. Outdoors it withstands weather remarkably well, and seems far more scratch resistant than other linseed paints. Just a pity that the availability seems intermittent.
