When using exterior linseed oil paint on a wooden surface and to gain the benefits of using linseed paint, it is important to remove modern plastic paint first.

At the end of last year Adam Lynch of Whitacre Bespoke Carpentry went on a rescue mission to salvage this cupola. It has been painstakingly restored including the weather vane. The weather vane and the cupola were painted with Brouns & Co linseed paint. It’s an amazing project not without its challenges including lifting the refurbished structure onto the roof and refitting.

This Victorian workers cottage is located in a conservation area and the current owner set about replacing the oversized UPVC windows with wooden sash windows to take the property back to its original historic look. Fortunately there was an old photograph of the cottage to help get as close to the original windows as possible.

This year has seen a good flax crop in the UK, and we’ve been out in the fields near Wetherby to watch the harvesting take place.
