Wilton House Museum

The paint restoration process at Wilton House Museum, Richmond Virginia USA began just over 10 years ago when they started conducting the paint analysis carried out by Conservator and Paint Analyst Susan Buck and overseen by Joseph Rizzo, Ph.D..

This analysis showed the generations of paint and following a visit by Michiel Brouns, Brouns & Co were asked to produce the paint, as the original paint was a linseed oil paint. This has then allowed them to return the passages and parlor of the museum to their first generations colors from the 1750s. The painting of the museum was carried out by conservation and restoration specialist Maeve Bristow.

Wilton House Museum are conducting a 'Behind The Scenes Tour' of the paint restoration and you will find more information about this on their website http://www.wiltonhousemuseum.org/
